More emerging on hypocritical pop star campaigners who care a great deal about poverty in Africa and a whole lot more about keeping their millions as far from the tax man as possible. The BBC has, at times, gone to great lengths to protect Mr Geldof who has been seen by some World Service staff as an encyclopaedic expert on the African continent. His expertise and knowledge have even been viewed, by some staff, as greater than the expertise and knowledge of the experienced staff at the corporation’s own Africa service (made up of Africans and devoted Africanists). Some staff members have been clipped around the proverbial ear for challenging Mr Geldof’s great love of Africa, but not, sadly, his equally questionable love of the tax man.
